House approves SCHIP amendment

The House of Representatives on Tuesday voted 265-159 in favor of passing the expanded State Children's Health Insurance Program, defeating several Republican lawmakers who opposed the measure in support of President George W. Bush. The votes were not enough to override a veto threatened by Bush, but supporters vow to keep working to fight such a threat, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said.
