Schools introduce milk in plastic bottles

School districts in Michigan have started offering milk beverages to students in colorful and trendy 8-ounce plastic bottles, instead of in carton containers, in an effort to encourage them to drink more of the beverage. The program, which also introduced milk in various flavors such as chocolate and strawberry, was launched by the National Dairy Council six years ago and is being implemented in more than 125 schools in the state. "This is getting really popular as schools see that kids will drink more milk," Sharon Toth of the United Dairy Industry of Michigan said.
