University of Massachusetts quickly mints new math, science teachers

A relatively new program supplying some Massachusetts schools with needed math and science teachers may soon become a statewide effort under a gubernatorial proposal. The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth program teaches career-changers the basics, ensures they pass a qualification test and then gives them their own classrooms while they earn postgraduate degrees.
