Despite criminal pasts, cocaine smugglers land airport clearances

Australian Federal Police recently busted a cocaine smuggling ring, but by doing so revealed the bad guys had managed to wrangle unrestricted airport security passes despite a criminal past. Three of the men arrested had been granted Aviation Security Identification Cards by the federal Transport Department. The security passes let them bypass customs checks and freely access sensitive areas of the Sydney Airport.
