Orlando-area occupancies, revpar take a dive in August

Hotel occupancies in the Orlando, Fla., area dropped 8.9% in August to a dismal 58%, compared with the 63.7% seen in the same month a year ago, according to Smith Travel Research. Revpar declined 22%, from $56.75 in August 2008 to $44.26, and average daily room rates dropped 14.4%, from $89.11 to $76.29 this year.
