Alliance makes case for cost-effectiveness of nursing homes

The Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care issued a report defending the cost-effectiveness of nursing homes as providers of post-acute care and saying they play an important role in containing health care costs. The report comes after a proposal by President Barack Obama to cut $42 billion in post-acute-care reimbursements over 10 years. "Weakening the sector with an overwhelming barrage of regulatory and budgetary cuts -- with yet more funding cuts contemplated -- is counterproductive and illogical," AQNHC President Alan Rosenbloom said.
