3D printing could "monumentally" change goods delivery

As 3D printing gains steam in the manufacturing sector, experts believe it has the potential to "monumentally" change the way products are delivered across the globe. The technology can transform goods transportation, significantly reduce lead times and customize production, among other advantages. "A proportion of goods which were previously produced in China or other Asia markets could be 'near-sourced' to North America and Europe. This would reduce shipping and air cargo volumes," a recent report by smartplanet stated.
