Ancient leopard traps found in Israel desert

A leopard trap dating back 5,000 years has been found in Israel's Negev Desert. Using a technique called optical dating, which measures radiation absorbed from the environment where an item is found, researchers determined the age of trap, which was found with another trap that is 1,600 years old. "They look like a pile of stones, like a cairn, and you need a good eye and also some digging around to realize what it is," said geochronologist Naomi Porat of the Geological Survey of Israel, the study's co-author.
