BuzzFeed exec: Shared content is the future of advertising

Social networks have laid the groundwork for advertising to focus on content that people want to share, says BuzzFeed executive Jonathan Perelman. The device where consumers encounter that content is less important than whether the consumer finds the content interesting, he adds. "The endorsement that occurs when someone shares a piece of content enables word-of-mouth marketing to occur at Internet scale," he said.
