Chipotle takes the bacon out of the beans

Chipotle is phasing in a new pinto bean recipe that omits the bit of bacon that flavored the original version, making the new beans vegetarian, a spokesman said. Two years ago, the chain disclosed that the beans contained pork after Maxim editor Seth Porges complained directly to CEO Steve Ells. "In testing some recipes, we simply didn’t think the bacon added anything and, by removing it, we make the pinto beans vegetarian," a spokesman for the chain said this week.
