Complexity, trust are top concerns about annuities, advisers say

Annuities can be a good fit for clients, but trying to explain the products is a major hurdle, as is the fear that the product ultimately will not work as expected, advisers say. "It's such a customized experience, the onus really does fall on the adviser. The financial adviser has to feel comfortable enough to explain [annuities] to clients," says Gus Stathopoulos, an adviser with Morgan Stanley.
