FDA to use enforcement discretion on whole-grains health claims

The FDA says there is limited evidence to support health claims that whole-grain consumption can reduce diabetes risk, and that it will use its enforcement discretion for two food-label claims that whole grains may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. Food manufacturers are permitted to make the claims if they are worded in a manner that does not mislead consumers.
