IBD does not affect fertility, analysis indicates

French researchers analyzed 11 studies and found that although inflammatory bowel disease often affects younger patients of reproductive age, biological evidence does not show it has any affect on fertility. The authors said the data suggest women with IBD who did not have children had made a voluntary choice not to do so, rather than being biologically prevented by IBD from becoming pregnant.
