Lincoln Park Zoo receives accolades for Serengeti rabies prevention work

Since 2003, Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo has facilitated the administration of more than 1 million doses of rabies vaccine to dogs living near Serengeti National Park in Tanzania as part of the zoo's Serengeti Health Initiative. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums gave the zoo its Top Honors in International Conversation award for the program, believed to have saved up to 150 human lives annually.
