Minn. teacher, student are inspired by local war hero who died at Normandy

High-school senior Matti Martin and her middle-school history teacher Ron Hustvedt traveled the world for their National History Day project -- from home in Minnesota to Normandy, France. In France, they visited the cemetery where Virgil Tangborn, the subject of their project, and 240 other Minnesotans who fought and died during the invasion of Normandy in World War II are buried. Inspired by their findings about Tangborn, the teacher and student have launched a website listing the names of the 241 service members from Minnesota who are buried at the Normandy American cemetery.
