Wal-Mart to cut back on orders, reduce inventories

Wal-Mart will cut orders for new merchandise in some categories and reduce merchandising levels, after seeing inventory growth outpace sales increases at U.S. stores in the second quarter. The pullback is part of a "corporate goal" that involves "growing inventory at or less than the rate of net sales growth," the retailer said.
