DTV transition plan will succeed, CEA's Shapiro says

The DTV-converter coupon program will succeed, said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, speaking at a public meeting about the digital-television transition. CEA projects that U.S. consumers will buy 70 million DTVs in 2008 and 2009. Shapiro said the coupon program for converters would provide anyone who chose to keep his analog TV with access to over-the-air programming.
