New bill would limit soda sales in school

In a bid to limit the sale of sodas and other snack foods on campuses, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, has introduced a bill that would require the government to establish new nutrition standards for foods and beverages that schools sell to children. Health advocates wanted the new standard to ban the sale of sugar- and sodium-laden sports drinks, however, some consumer goods groups have said they are open to further discussions.
