Zyprexa may get FDA approval for teenagers

The FDA could grant approval for the use of Eli Lilly & Co.'s Zyprexa to treat adolescents with mental illness, after the head of the FDA's psychiatry division concluded that the schizophrenia drug's benefits outweigh its risks. Thomas Laughren issued a memo in April overruling an FDA panel which advised the rejection of Zyprexa, but Laughren declined to comment on Lilly's pending application for the drug's approval.
