Banks have raised stakes in derivatives, report shows

The comptroller of the currency released a report showing that the banking industry increased its holdings in derivatives by more than 11% in the second quarter compared with the second quarter of 2010. Banks, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, hold almost $250 trillion worth of derivatives contracts, the report says.
