Dietary supplement holds promise for type 2 diabetes

Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles, found that GABA, an amino acid-like molecule, helped suppress the inflammatory immune responses of obese and insulin-resistant mice. The over-the-counter dietary supplement also helped prevent the progression of type 2 diabetes and improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in the mice, experts said.
