Magazine names most powerful women in banking

Karen Peetz, vice chairman at BNY Mellon, leads American Banker's list of the Most Powerful Women in Banking. "Karen is a leader in every program she supports, every group that she joins, and every event that she participates in," according to one of Peetz's competitors. Carrie Tolstedt, senior executive vice president of community banking at Wells Fargo; Ellen Costello, president and CEO at Harris Financial; Irene Dorner, president and CEO at HSBC Bank USA; and Ellen Alemany, chairman and CEO at Citizens Financial Group and head of RBS Americas, rounded out the top five. CBA board members Shelaghmichael Brown of BBVA Compass and Mary W. Navarro of Huntington Bancshare were also recognized.
