Out candidates for Indianapolis City Council could make history

Indianapolis could get its first LGBT City Council member this year, as Democrats have nominated two openly gay men and an out lesbian to compete in the upcoming election. Neither the candidates nor their Republican opponents have drawn attention to sexual orientation as a campaign issue, but many citizens say the election of an openly gay or lesbian council member would be a sign of progress for the city.
