Scientists study dolphins' ability to heal

Researchers at the National Aquarium are studying the amazing capacity of dolphins to regenerate normal tissue after severe injury without the help of pain medication or antibiotics. Similarly, researchers from the Mote Marine Research Center are evaluating the antibacterial properties of stingrays' mucous. Scientists hope to use these discoveries to develop human medications such as treatments for wounded soldiers.
