Windows 8 marks new era for Microsoft, analysts contend

The arrival of Microsoft's Windows 8 OS will not only push the PC software company deeper into mobile but may also become the most relevant OS in the vendor's history, Gartner analysts Michael Silver and Stephen Kleynhans write. "We believe it's the start of a new era for Microsoft, the Windows RT era, which follows the Windows NT era that began in 1993 and is just starting to wane," states a report authored by the analysts.
