194 of 339 metros added jobs from August 2012 to August 2013

An analysis of employment data from the Labor Department indicates that construction employment rose in 193 metro areas from August 2012 to August 2013. It dropped in 88 areas and was stagnant in 57 others, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. "It has been a tough decade for much of the construction industry, considering that many areas experienced peak employment levels in the middle of the last decade," said AGC CEO Stephen Sandherr. "More troubling, it will take a lot more growth before significantly more metro areas get back to peak employment levels in construction."
