52-year-old man has N.M.'s 3rd plague case of 2013

The New Mexico Department of Health reported that a 52-year-old man was diagnosed with plague, bringing the state's total human plague cases to three this year. The man's home will be evaluated to determine a possible source of infection, but usually the disease is transmitted to humans via a flea bite and sometimes through direct contact with an infected rodent or other animal.
