Data show shift in hospitals receiving readmission penalties

The CMS said 2,225 U.S. hospitals will be penalized starting Oct. 1 for high readmission rates, and while the total number is similar to last year, this year's list shows a shift among facilities. Data show 1,371 hospitals will see their penalty decrease, while 1,154 hospitals kept readmission rates low enough to avoid fines entirely.
