Good Web designers see the world through their users' eyes

Being able to empathize with the users of a website you are designing is key to creating good user experiences, writes Paul Boag. Web designers who make an effort to interact with a broad cross section of people are better able to visualize the end users they design for. Designers can also spend a few days with a slower Internet connection to get a sense of how dial-up users experience the Web or try out a screen reader to learn how vision-impaired Web users "see" websites, he writes.
