Ill. city council mows down proposal allowing mowers on roads

A proposed ordinance that would have allowed lawn mowers to be driven on streets in West Peoria, Ill., has been thrown out by the City Council. The proposal was drafted after West Peoria Mayor Jim Dillon heard that two cemetery workers were stopped by state troopers for driving riding mowers on a short stretch of road between cemeteries. However, workers from Oakwood Landscaping Services, which maintains the grounds of the two cemeteries, said they have not been stopped on lawn mowers, but on six-wheel Kubota utility vehicles, this article says.
