Nasdaq and NYSE reportedly consider joint backup plan

NYSE Euronext and Nasdaq OMX Group are reportedly considering a plan, in connection with other exchanges, to institute backups for each other's pricing data, people familiar with the situation said. The plan comes after Mary Jo White, head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, told exchanges to collaborate to prevent technological glitches. White will be a speaker at SIFMA's Annual Meeting on Nov. 11-12 in New York City. Register before early-bird rates expire Sept. 30.
