Rooftop farms thrive in major cities

Owners of urban buildings are transforming their green roofs into productive farms, a trend that is expected to grow. Chicago's massive conference center, McCormick Place, recently converted its 20,000-square-foot green roof into a space to grow beets, carrots, radishes and herbs which will supply its foodservice company with nearly 10,000 servings of food a year.
