Senate inches closer to short-term funding bill as government shutdown looms

With the clock ticking ever closer to a potential government shutdown, the Senate voted Wednesday to end debate and move forward to consider a bill that would keep the government running through Nov. 15. Also Wednesday, Sens. Mark Udall, D-Colo., and Jerry Moran, R.-Kan., introduced a bill to allow military members to continue receiving paychecks if a shutdown occurs.
