Solar energy installations to top wind additions this year

As wind power loses some of its global momentum, solar power is picking up its pace, with the world on track to add 36.7 gigawatts of solar energy this year and top wind for the first time, according to a projection by Bloomberg New Energy Finance. "The dramatic cost reductions in photovoltaics combined with new incentive regimes in Japan and China are making possible further, strong growth in volumes," said Jenny Chase, BNEF's head of solar analysis.
