Minnesota's achievement gap stymies schools

Although its students consistently score well on standardized tests, Minnesota ranks 49th out of 50 states in the size of its achievement gap. Educators blame the pervasive and troubling disparity in the performance of whites and students of color on many causes, including poverty, low expectations and poor parenting.
