Official: Missing reinforcement bar may have played role in Paris airport concourse collapse

An official said at an annual peer review of airport professionals that missing reinforcing bar may have led to the collapse of an arched concrete section of a new concourse at Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. Four people died when the section collapsed 30 months after completion and a preliminary report said the collapse was triggered by external tubular steel struts that punctured the roof.
