Seattle may scale back school-choice policy

The Seattle School Board on Wednesday will review the school system's expensive "open-choice" enrollment policy, which allows parents to send their child to almost any school in the city, with free transportation provided for many students. Although no firm proposals are on the table, one idea being floated would give parents the right to send their child to any school within their geographic cluster, or any of the city's alternative schools.
