Advertisers are no-shows as Google meets Senate

Google's chief legal officer, David Drummond, was slated to appear today before a Senate panel to answer questions regarding the search giant's proposed acquisition of DoubleClick. While deal opponent Microsoft was sending its general counsel, many noted opponents of the deal are passing on the chance to appear as witnesses. "I've heard that advertising people are afraid of going against Google," said Jeff Chester, head of the Center for Digital Democracy, which opposes the deal.
