Eighth-grade class explores Columbus Day controversy

A Denver humanities class didn't just read about Denver's controversial Columbus Day parade: The students met with parade organizers and American Indians to hear their perspectives on the issue. "Our school isn't just about looking at text books. It's doing your own research and getting your questions answered," said eighth-grader Sarah Waldrop. "I think it's better that way."
