FMI opposes aspects of Food and Drug Import Safety Act

Jill Hollingsworth, FMI vice president of food safety programs, told a U.S. House subcommittee Wednesday that certain parts of the proposed Food and Drug Import Safety Act are "unworkable." FMI is against restricting ports of entry for imported foods, putting user fees on imports and implementing country-of-origin labeling, noting the costs to both retailers and consumers.
