Scientists uncover Giardia lamblia genome

An international team of scientists has mapped the genome of Giardia lamblia, an intestinal parasite that can be contracted through infected stool and contaminated drinking water. One researcher said the genome revealed unusual proteins that could be targets for new drugs or vaccines.
