The slowdown in the construction industry has hit Las Vegas particularly hard. Thousands of workers are now unemployed, and some observers wonder if the city can absorb additional resort capacity. Some analysts, however, have high hopes for MGM Mirage's CityCenter development, which consists of hotels, casinos and shopping. They note that the number of visitors to the city has declined over the past year, but also say that the company is in a good position to lead a recovery.
