Lack of class-size oversight leads to lawsuit in Rhode Island

The local teachers union has sued the Providence, R.I., school district, saying officials have not provided proper oversight of class sizes as required by a 1996 court ruling. That ruling requires that someone be in place to monitor class sizes, and union leaders say school officials have not responded to a request to appoint someone.
