DOT distributes grants for transportation studies

The Transportation Department is doling out $9.2 million in grants to universities to study ways to improve transportation networks nationwide. Centers receiving grants will study a variety of issues, including greenhouse-gas emissions and freight logistics. "From reducing congestion along vital transportation corridors to exploring transportation applications for newly developed advance composites, these universities are advancing research aligned with our national priorities," said DOT Secretary Ray LaHood.
