North Carolina becomes latest state to create honey standards

North Carolina has joined Florida, California and Wisconsin in setting standards for "pure honey" that exclude products containing other sweeteners. At least a dozen other states are considering similar efforts, as the honey industry pushes for a national "pure honey" standard limiting the label to products free of additives.
