Obama: Standards must be high for educators, students

President Barack Obama focused on education during a 30-minute interview on NBC on Monday, saying that students and teachers must meet higher standards. Obama also said he supports firing ineffective teachers after they have been given an opportunity to improve. During the interview, Obama said he supports working with teachers unions on education reform. Also Monday, he announced plans to recruit 10,000 science, technology, engineering and math teachers during the next two years.
