BMI, waist circumference endorsed as tools to monitor adiposity

The American Heart Association has released a scientific statement that highlights body mass index and waist circumference as primary tools to measure adiposity. BMI is a "good and realistic start" for assessing patients, while waist-circumference measurement can help identify patients with excess visceral and liver fat, according to the statement in Circulation.
