Calorie quality and quantity matter in dieting, experts say

It's a bad idea to play "trade the calories" if a junk-food treat contains the same number as a healthier choice, because weight loss should encompass calorie quality as well as total calorie numbers, nutrition experts say. Registered dietitian Alisha Strianese says eating unprocessed healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables and grains reduces the risk of chronic disease and aids in maintaining a healthy weight.
