Doritos inventor Arch West dies at 97:

Arch West, a marketing vice president at Frito-Lay, was the force behind the 1966 introduction of Doritos and the 1972 launch of the nacho cheese version. He came up with the idea after eating tasty chips at a San Diego restaurant, and shepherded the project himself after failing to convince his bosses to expand the company's chip line beyond Fritos and Cheetos.
