Glucose control does not preserve memory, diabetes study finds

Using intensive methods to lower blood glucose levels did not prevent memory loss in older patients with type 2 diabetes, a study in The Lancet Neurology revealed. Researchers said patients who underwent strict glucose-lowering treatments retained more brain volume than those who had standard care, but no slowing of memory loss was seen after 40 months.
